5/5/2024. I initially bookmarked to try the fish here on another day/visit to Newark. But here I am because I was ignored at the neighboring restaurant. I'm glad SIP (neighboring rest.) provided poor service because I would have not been able to indulge in these tasty oxtails, tender collard greens, right amount of cinnamon candied yams. Potato salad dang near better than mine. well upon entering the cornerstone restaurant, no one was up front, but a young lady quickly comes up and greets with a smile. chipper and pleasant. The inside is small, not really a sit down and eat type establishment. Two small tables are available. I wish I had asked the young lady her name. she was patient and laughed when I asked what's good and best selling item. She said "everything!" Leaned towards me ordering the oxtail. She helped me deciding on sides and even convinced me the potato salad was good. she was right! everything was yummy and worth my $32.87. Portions are in keeping with the cost. I definitely can get 2 meals off this plate. Couldn't wait on the potato salad--Mustard base and sweet pickles. I normally wont eat mustard potato salad. apologies on the pic. I have a spot when I come back.
Best oxtail anywhere! Stew chicken, Henessey wings, macaroni salad, mixed vegetables, and candy yams. The pictures speak for themselves. Best anywhere!
I like the people...I normally just order the sides as I cook my own meats. The potato salad, Greens, and Mac and cheese are all good. If youre coming for more than that, You'd better call. Im telling you now. The parking is pretty bad, but then again it IS S.Orange Ave. so I usually pull up on the sidewalk on PineGrove Terr and walk in.
Good ole faithful came through again! Oxtails cooked to perfection and the jerk chicken was not too spicy. I ordered for pickup (15-20 minutes wait) and my food was waiting for me when I got there... so we had quick service. Bright lights and new counter tops makes a big difference. I'll be back soon! The oxtails are Amazing and very fulfilling . Personally the best time to order is at 11. While I've never actually been in here I've ordered countless times , great food
